Project Manager – Civil Engineer

Location: Evolving Texas – In office
Employment Type: Full-Time


The Project Manager will manage civil design, scheduling, budgeting and permitting of construction plans, while collaborating with consultants and the design team to ensure the best design approach throughout every phase of the development. The Project Manager will typically hold a P.E. license in Civil Engineering, or comparable engineering field.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop project scope and budgets for proposals;
  • Draft Proposals for new projects and provide to Supervisor or Engineering Director for review
  • Utilize AutoCAD and Civil 3d to design Engineering Construction Drawings for Commercial, Residential Subdivision, Industrial, Retail, Multi-family and Capital Improvement Projects.
  • Direct the civil design and coordinate work with other staff and design team members;
  • Direct design team in design and preparation of drawings and specification packages.
  • Perform grading and drainage and utility design to local standards;
  • Coordination with local authorities, regulatory agencies, contractors, staff, etc. during project design and construction.
  • Maintain and grow existing client accounts/relationships.
  • Prepare preliminary, engineering and detailed cost estimates.
  • Any other duties as assigned which are relevant to the position.

Essential Job Functions:

  • The Project Manager (PM) must have an in-depth knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D;
  • Manage work totaling between $750k- $1MM in invoiced work to be collected from clients
  • The PM must have the Ability to read and understand consultant drawings and reports, and incorporate them, as needed, into the Civil Construction Drawings;
  • The PM must have an in-depth knowledge of civil engineering infrastructure projects, including paving, water, sewer, grading and drainage;
  • The PM should possess the ability to manage projects in a self-sufficient manner, while still incorporating skillful assistance when needed;
  • The PM must train and manage drafter(s) and other relevant staff;
  • The PM must delegate tasks to design team via online software;
  • The PM must review assigned tasks, time management software and remaining budgets for all projects to ensure project is on-track to be completed on time and within budget constraints;
  • The PM must complete or delegate completion of QC/QA Checklists on all assigned projects before submissions are made to clients or reviewing agencies;
  • The PM must have the ability to manage competing priorities and assignments;
  • The PM must have a Professional demeanor and project a positive and professional image;
  • The PM must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected;
  • The PM must be self-motivated but also be a team player;
  • The PM must have strong communications skills both written and oral;
  • The PM must possess the ability to negotiate and facilitate approvals through all reviewing authorities using engineering logic, problem-solving ability, and professionalism to further the project and maintain relationships
  • The PM must be driven to lead project teams and build relationships with clients and staff;

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Land Development
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Project Management;
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Civil 3D
