The Senior Civil Designer will perform and/or manage the design and preparation of civil design for construction plans, with oversight of the Project manager, Team Leader or Licensed P.E., while collaborating with consultants and the design team to ensure the best design approach throughout every phase of the project. Collaboration with internal design team and engineers is a critical requirement for this position.

Responsibilities will include:

• Attend project Kick Off Meetings and Design Charrettes.
• Input on Project Scope/Fees.
• Coordination with Clients and Owners as necessary to ensure project expectations are understood through the life of the project.
• Ability to independently research City Ordinances and Regulations to complete (PQ) Project Questionnaires and SIRs (Site Investigation Reports);
• Review of PQ and/or SIR prior to beginning design.
• Review Surveys and provide feedback to surveyors for additional clean up or data required to perform design.
• Coordinate with sub-consultants throughout proposal phase, design and construction.
• Utilize AutoCAD to design and prepare Engineering Construction Drawings for Commercial, Residential Subdivision, Industrial and Capital Improvement Projects.
• Perform all aspects of Construction Drawing design and plans preparation with input/assistance from leadership.
• Independently perform grading and drainage design to standards and requirements of reviewing authorities.
• Lead Construction Drawing Completion, including delegation of tasks to design team via online software and verbal collaboration.
• Perform QC and ensure compliance with all checklists for delegated tasks prior to submitting for QC
• Prepare Quantity Take Offs utilizing paper, AutoCAD, engineer scales, calculators and spreadsheets.
• Prepare preliminary engineering exhibits and drawings to scale and detailed cost estimates.
• Any other duties as assigned which are relevant to the position.

Essential Job Functions:

• The Senior Civil Designer must have an in-depth knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D;
• The Senior Civil Designer must have the Ability to read and understand consultant drawings and reports and incorporate them as needed into the preparation of Civil Construction Drawings.
• The Senior Civil Designer must have an in-depth knowledge of civil engineering infrastructure projects, including paving, water, sewer, grading and drainage.
• The Senior Civil Designer must be willing to train and assist drafter other relevant staff.
• The Senior Civil Designer must review assigned tasks daily and complete tasks on schedule.
• The Senior Civil Designer must complete checklists on assigned construction drawing sheets before submitting for QC.
• The Senior Civil Designer must have the ability to manage competing priorities and assignments.
• The Senior Civil Designer must have a Professional demeanor and project a positive and professional image.
• The Senior Civil Designer must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
• The Senior Civil Designer must be self-motivated and a team player.
• The Senior Civil Designer must have strong communications skills, both written and oral.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum 8 years’ experience in Land Development
• Minimum 5 years’ experience using Civil 3D
